Thank You, Arlington Senior High School NJROTC « Thread Started on May 30, 2007, 1:45pm »
We began contacting Color Guards and Honor Guards to participate in EchoTaps in October, 2006. The first reply we received was from Senior Chief William Pletzer (USN RET) of the Arlington Senior High School Navy JROTC in St. Paul, MN.
Within a month, the ASHS Corps of Cadets not only volunteered to provide a Color Guard to represent the U.S. Navy in the Parade of Colors, they also formed a Special Color Guard to carry six flags we wanted to include in the ceremony. In addition, the Corps of Cadets provided volunteers to serve as the Project Director's Command Team, guides for both the Color Guard staging area and the Musicians staging area, and the Cadet who stood-in for Bugler #3. More than 40 Cadets were present at Fort Snelling National Cemetery on 19 May 2007.

WELL DONE and THANK YOU !!!
The Corps of Cadets takes a break following the ceremony. Before boarding their bus to return home, the Cadets visited the gravesite of Lieutenant Commander Steven White, the senior Naval Science instructor of the Naval Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps (NJROTC) at Arlington Senior High School, who passed away unexpectedly on June 26, 2006.

The Arlington Senior High School (Saint Paul, MN) Navy Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps (NJROTC) Special Color Guard carried six flags in the Parade of Colors ...
A cloth American Flag that was raised and lowered over the U.S. Capitol in the days before America's Bicentennial in 1976 and then presented to the Project Director on the steps of the Capitol.
A POW/MIA Flag that was originally presented in the 1980s to the family of a friend of the Project Director who is still listed as Killed-In-Action ... Body Not Recovered. The family later returned the flag with a note that said, "He would have wanted you to have it."
An Armed Forces Memorial Tribute Flag that has special significance to The Minnesota Platoon.
A Bugles Across America Flag to honor all those who volunteer to sound Taps at the funerals of Servicemembers and Veterans.
A Patriot Guard Riders Flag to salute those who shield and honor the families of the Fallen as they lay their loved ones to rest.
A Blue Star Flag to salute the Servicemembers, and their families, who are stationed all over the world so that the rest of us can gather in peace.
The Minnesota Platoon asked the Arlington Senior High School Corps of Cadets to keep the six flags with our compliments and our appreciation. The flags will be displayed at the school. They now have a new home. They are where they should be.
