Built to remember all those from southeast Minnesota that have given their lives in the gallant struggle to preserve the United States and keep us all free. The memorial consists of four 35-foot circular granite walls; a 12' x 50' main wall; 50 trees; 4,920 pavers; 21 sponsored benches; six Armed Forces flags plus the Minnesota, POW/MIA and United States flags. The outside walls feature battle graphics from the Civil War to the Gulf War and the inside walls are engraved with stories of important military events from the Revolutionary War to the Gulf War. A statue of a widow and her son, receiving a telegram notifying her of the death of her husband, sits in front of the Wall of Remembrance. Statues of a Nurse and Medic treating a wounded soldier on the battlefield are located south of the Wall of Remembrance.
