Additional information ... On October 29, 1983, U.S. Marine Corps 1st Lieutenant John T. Downing, who had returned to the United States shortly before the bombing, took his own life after learning his fellow Marines had been killed. He was from Minneapolis and was buried at Fort Snelling National Cemetery near the gravesites of Thomas Lamb and John Tishmack.
